When I was a kid, it was my dream to become a writer. That changed when I got to high school and realized that unless I had the next great American novel sitting under my pillow, it was going to be hard to make a living. That's when I decided to go into journalism.

All through my high school years at Bishop Noll Institute, I worked for the student newspaper for four years, and served for two years as Editor-in-Cheif before I graduated.

I began my collegiate journalism career at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana in 2012. I joined the design staff for Ball Bearings Magazine, and by the end of my freshman year, I was double majoring in both magazine journalism and journalism graphics. That changed again at the start of my sophomore year when I really, really fell in love with design. My classes and professors inspired me to change my major to just journalsim graphics, and I can say with confidence it's the best decision I've made in my college career so far.

As a journalism graphics major, I've learned the importance of being involved with Unified Student Media. I've designed for all print and tablet publications, and have served on multiple editorial levels for these publications as well.

Additionally, I serve as a designer in the BSU Digital Publishing Studio, which is a team of graphics students that design and develop tablet apps using Adobe Digital Publishing Suite. I am currently on a team that is working on two apps for the Indianapolis Children's Museum that will be used as supplements in and out of the museum. One app, "Know Your Dinos", is an educational app that teaches children about the dinos in the museum. The second app, "Stories from our Community", which will allow users to experience the oral story telling tradition through its exhibit.

Through my education and involvement with student media, I am becoming a visual journalist and story teller. I love designing to tell stories for both print and digital platforms so audiences can gain more through a visual and interactive experience.

In addition to my love of design, I also love dino nuggets, You've Got Mail, television sitcoms, blogging and polkaing in parades.
